Leadership (ID)
For my leadership class I had to interview a leader, and so I interviewed Mr. McBride who runs the college office at TMA. His job is to provide support to students so that they can get into college. He keeps the students informed about college and helps them through the college process. Mr. McBride always encourages students to do their best and provides them with the tools they need to be successful.
Mr. McBride is a great example of what a good leader should be. I learned a lot about leadership interviewing Mr. McBride that I could possibly use in the future. I was always afraid that being a leader would make me feel or look stuck up or arrogant, but listening to Mr. McBride I realized that a leader doesn't have to be either of those things. A leader can be friendly and still be in control. Another thing I was worried about was not knowing enough, but he reassured me that a leader doesn't know everything and they don't have to know everything to lead people, you just have to be understanding and able to adjust to certain situations.
Through the interview I realized that a good leader does not overreact to failure, they learn from it and become better. The way you react to a situation will determine how people view and treat you as a leader. A good leader also knows how to trust their team to get the job done, which takes time because you have to build trust. Hopefully if I build my own business one day I can use some of these skills and other that I learn down the line in the work place so that I can be a good and effective leader.

Getting Fit (FC)
Myself and a small group of the senior girls have started to work out after school with Mr. G and Ms. P. I have always wanted to work out but I never knew how or what exercises I should do. I also never had the right motivation, so this is the perfect opportunity for me to get in shape. For years my doctor has been telling me that i need to exercise more and over the past two years I have gained weight, so I am definitely going to take advantage of this opportunity and finally take my doctors advice. I don't really care too much about losing a lot of weight especially since I am not too far away from having a healthy BMI; I am actually hoping to gain some strength out of these exercises. Hopefully I not only gain strength but also some flexibility, maybe it would even be good for my back.

The Taming of the Shrew (CRR)
In English class we are reading Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew. I actually enjoy and understand the book. My favorite character so far is Katharina. Katharina is the daughter of Baptista and the older sister of Bianca. Baptista is trying to find a husband for Katharina because if she doesn't get married then Bianca can't get married. A lot of the men don't want to marry Katharina because of how slick her mouth is and how independent she is.
Katharina is very outspoken and independent, which is why she is my favorite character. Unlike many of the other women at the time, Katharina actually has an opinion and actually knows what she wants. She does not want anyone to tell her what to. She doesn't take any nonsense from anyone and I admire her for that. It is too bad that there weren't more women like Katharina at the time maybe not as rude as her, but definitely as confident and outspoken.

Adelina (FC)
At the age of five, I was entrusted with Adelina, my first pet, a turtle. Adelina taught me how to take care of others whether it was a pet or a human; and as the years passed by I became a more responsible person. The biggest thing I learned while taking care of Adelina is patience because if theres anything you need to take care of a turtle is a lot of patience. I had so much fun playing and talking with her; she was always right there when I needed a friend. Adelina didn’t make a lot of noise or cause trouble, she was just like me
Math (PB)
Math has been my favorite
subject for as long as I can remember, but math became my passion in the sixth
grade because that is when I knew that I wanted a career in math. Being able to
solve problems through numbers and knowing which equation to use it just
amazing to me. Math is like a game of chess it requires patience and
understanding. When it comes to math you have to stop and just think what, is
the best way to solve the problem, and the fact that it makes you think is
definitely my favorite part of the subject.
I love to test myself and the harder the math got the more passionate I became about the subject.
Math is just one of those subjects that I just get, I am able to
understand it. I went ahead and became a teacher assistant for the math teacher
down at the middle school in order to challenge myself because I figured that
if I understood math so much then I should be able to explain it and teach it.
Not only did I help the middle school students, but I helped myself become a
better math student because now not only can I show my steps but I can explain
them.

O'Melvany Scholarship (FC)
A year ago I applied for the O'Melveny scholarship, I wrote the essay and I gathered all the materials I needed in order to apply that was easy, but then came the hard part. I had to do an interview, if you're as shy as I am then you know that interviews are like a nightmare. It was bad enough that I had to do an interview but then I found out it was a group interview. I was sitting there nervous just waiting my turn, and as the time for my interview got closer the more nervous I became. It was finally my turn, my hands were sweating and my legs were shaking. The interview started and my nerves just got worse; everyone was staring but I couldn't stare back, all I could think was that I needed to get out of there. I wanted to just walk out and never come back, but I came back and I'm actually glad I did. The interview was pretty bad but I don't care because I sat through it.
