England, Ireland, and Wales (FC)

This spring break I went to England, Ireland, and Wales with Kids n Culture, and it was amazing. We spent the first 3 days in Ireland. I liked Ireland it's a nice place to be if you just want to get away from the city life for a while. We saw some really cool castles while we were there, but my favorite site was the Great Fort because we got to climb it. While in Ireland Georgie, Andromeda, Lalla, Brandy, Perla, Mecca, and I decided to have a girls night so we went to the movies and saw Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier, which was amazing. After Ireland we went to Wales, which was my favorite place, but unfortunately we only spent one day there. Wales was absolutely beautiful. We visited a castle while we were there and I thought it was better than the ones we saw in Ireland. We got to roam through the castle, which was really cool. Outside of the castle we saw these men who were recreating the medieval times, and they began to battle with swords. When the battle was over I got to hold an owl, which made me extremely happy because I love owls. Afterwards me and couple of the other seniors had lunch on the beach. We stayed at the Hand Hotel, which was supposedly haunted; it was actually cool staying in a haunted hotel it made the stay a little more fun, but it did scare some of the TMA kids. After Wales we headed towards London. London had a lot of stores, and reminded me a little of the city. We got to ride the trains in London, both above ground and underground. We saw a lot of things while we were there like Big Ben, the London Eye, Buckingham Palace, etc. Being a Harry Potter fan I most excited about visiting platform 9 3/4 , and the Harry Potter gift shop. These are only a few of the things we did in each country. I absolutely loved this trip and one day I will go back to Europe.
( Here are some pictures of the trip)

Naps (PB)

After a long day there's nothing better than taking a nap. I love naps and I think everyone should take naps. Naps make it easier for me to concentrate on my homework. If there's one thing I cant stand it's being woken up from a nap. When people wake me up from a nap I am usually very cranky; I just hate it when people wake me up. I don't understand why some people can't just wait until I wake up. I especially hate it when my sister wakes me up to ask me a simple question like how to do something or how to spell something because she could have just used the internet. I don't usually like being mean to people, but don't wake me up from a nap and expect me to be nice because I won't be. I think that's something I will have to discuss with my roommate in college to make sure we don't have any problems.

Leadership (ID)

For my leadership class I had to interview a leader, and so I interviewed Mr. McBride who runs the college office at TMA. His job is to provide support to students so that they can get into college. He keeps the students informed about college and helps them through the college process. Mr. McBride always encourages students to do their best and provides them with the tools they need to be successful.

Mr. McBride is a great example of what a good leader should be. I learned a lot about leadership interviewing Mr. McBride that I could possibly use in the future. I was always afraid that being a leader would make me feel or look stuck up or arrogant, but listening to Mr. McBride I realized that a leader doesn't have to be either of those things. A leader can be friendly and still be in control. Another thing I was worried about was not knowing enough, but he reassured me that a leader doesn't know everything and they don't have to know everything to lead people, you just have to be understanding and able to adjust to certain situations.

Through the interview I realized that a good leader does not overreact to failure, they learn from it and become better. The way you react to a situation will determine how people view and treat you as a leader. A good leader also knows how to trust their team to get the job done, which takes time because you have to build trust. Hopefully if I build my own business one day I can use some of these skills and other that I learn down the line in the work place so that I can be a good and effective leader.

Getting Fit (FC)

Myself and a small group of the senior girls have started to work out after school with Mr. G and Ms. P. I have always wanted to work out but I never knew how or what exercises I should do. I also never had the right motivation, so this is the perfect opportunity for me to get in shape. For years my doctor has been telling me that i need to exercise more and over the past two years I have gained weight, so I am definitely going to take advantage of this opportunity and finally take my doctors advice. I don't really care too much about losing a lot of weight especially since I am not too far away from having a healthy BMI; I am actually hoping to gain some strength out of these exercises. Hopefully I not only gain strength but also some flexibility, maybe it would even be good for my back.
